Reminiscence therapy can be conducted one to one, or in group; it uses all senses: visual, touch, taste, smell and sound to help Dementia patients remember events, people and places in the past. Since patients are more likely to remember the past but have difficulties to recall the recent events, Reminiscence therapy uses these characteristics of dementia patients. The therapy is found to be beneficial to patient’s mood, cognition, increase self-worth, and it is thought to increase social interaction, self-confidence and quality of life as well as decrease stress.
