【Smart & Healthy Living】OK Care x Lutheran Centre for the Elderly 15/04
2024-04-29

OK CARE provides a series of health talks to different organizations including community centers, elderly centers, charities, non-profit organizations, private companies, etc. during the year. Physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals provided health information to the public. The seminars are diverse and include fun activities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

On April 15, the Lutheran Peninsula Lions Club Silver Jubilee Senior Center invited a physical therapist from OK Care to introduce the health effects of elderly falls to a group of seniors, and what self-prevention methods can reduce the risk of elderly falls. The physiotherapist analyzed the risks of accidents in the home environment, including safety hazards in bathrooms and toilets, space and obstacles in bedrooms and corridors, etc., which may lead to falls. In addition, the physiotherapist also demonstrated different stretching exercises and fall prevention exercises to improve the lower limb muscle strength, balance, hand-foot coordination and other important body functions of the elderly.

During the seminar and the exercise experience, the elderly not only gained a lot of health information, but also seized the opportunity to learn the fall prevention exercises instructed by the physiotherapist. The response was enthusiastic and we look forward to organizing other seminars and workshops with the Centre again.
